Abstract
Individual case studies identified that the American educational and governmental system is not adequately preparing our students/citizens to understand basic concepts of energy in order to grasp its enormous impact in their everyday life. Interviews of elementary students through master degree/practicing experts tested their knowledge of basic energy principles and practices to demonstrate that the American education system poorly educates students in the field of energy. Only those with on the job training in this field had tools necessary to make informed decisions of this important topic. Our population needs to have this knowledge since it is a vital component to our existence.
