Abstract

  • Predation in fossil marine-ecosystems is generally estimated through analysis of time-averaged prey assemblages.
  • Do time-averaged assemblages reflect predation on smaller ecological time scales?
  • In this project I compared estimates of predation-related damage to snail shells derived on two ecological time scales to determine whether information loss biases our estimates of predation in the fossil record
