Abstract

Survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest depends on rapid heart defibrillation, yet automated external defibrillator (AED) retrieval, high acquisition costs, and maintenance requirements often limit unit availability. Consequently, the delay inherent in traditional manual retrieval and EMS arrival frequently prevents aid from reaching victims in time.
